This is my graphite drawing of Ragnar Lothbrok. He surrendered himself to the Earl of Wessex, who subsequently condemned him to the Earl of Northumberland in England. Ragnar was brutally imprisoned for his crimes and sentenced to death. I used heavy canvas paper to give his skin a weathered and beaten look, capturing the essence of a broken man abandoned to his fate.
I felt a profound connection to this character—his drive for self-discovery and his desire to improve life for himself and his loved ones. The loss of his life at the end was deeply painful and challenging to imprint on paper. Perhaps one day, I will render it in charcoal.
