This distinguished residence in Carmarthenshire, Wales, was once owned by the High Sheriff of Dyfed, Lieutenant Colonel Gilbert Henry Fleetwood Chaldecott. The house has remained in his family for generations, with heirloom military artifacts and antique mounted trophies adorning its walls, each bearing testament to its storied past.
Steeped in history and tradition, the estate exudes a stately presence, embodying both grandeur and heritage. During my stay, I painted in the sitting room, where an imposing ornate fireplace—complete with a steel-chain fire guard—completed the room, to enhance the depth and texture of the piece, I used heavy applications to evoke the rich character of this remarkable family home on canvas.
