Blackgang Chine, located on the Isle of Wight, England, is a coastal area known for its rapid erosion, a characteristic shared with many other parts of the English coastline. This region is also notable for its fossil deposits; however, due to the extreme instability of the cliffs, traversing them is highly dangerous and strongly discouraged.
Additionally, Blackgang is home to an amusement park that, over time, has been gradually succumbing to the encroaching sea.
In this painting, I have employed heavy impasto and metallic paints, complemented by finer details to enhance the dramatic effect. The multi-layered substrates create a striking interplay of textures and colours, resulting in a dynamic and visually engaging composition.
